June's Focus 2009

The scripture that presents our theme and focus in June 2009 is:

“Successful . . . families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, [and] forgiveness” (“Proclamation,” paragraph 7).

The theme is Faith, prayer, repentance, and forgiveness strengthen me and my family. All of our talks and sharing time lessons this month will reflect this theme. The June issue of the Friend magazine will also correspond with this theme. If you do not already subscribe to the Friend, we recommend that you do so. Much of the Friend is also available on line. See the link in our sidebar to connect to the Friend online, where you can read articles, play games, and find other activities for your children.

Primary Theme 2009

The theme chosen by our General Primary Presidency for sharing times and the Sacrament Meeting in 2009 is "My Eternal Family." Each week our lessons in sharing time, the scriptures and talks given by the children, and the music we sing will reflect this theme. The following is an introduction by the General Primary Presidency of the theme:

This year you will teach the children that they have an important role in building an eternal family. They can strengthen the families they have now, and they can prepare to be faithful fathers or mothers in their future families. You will help the children learn that the role of the family is an important part of Heavenly Father’s plan for us. We learn and live the gospel in our families. The scriptures, prayer, prophets, covenants, temples, and the Atonement of Jesus Christ are blessings that strengthen families. As you prepare and teach with the Spirit, He will confirm these magnificent truths in the hearts of the children. We invite you to teach from the scriptures, bear testimony, and be an example. We love you and pray for you and know the Lord will bless you.

You can also emphasize these principles in our your home during Family Home Evening and during less structured moments with your children. If you would like to see a more detailed outline of the program used in Primary this year, follow this link, found on the Church's website.
